3rd Annual Speaker Awards Champion the Art of Professional Speaking

The 2024 Speaker Summit and Speaker Awards has concluded with a successful line up of winners and esteemed judges.

This growing event, which took place in London on July 5th proved a vibrant occasion, fostering an exuberant spirit of community.

Award Nominees ranged from aspiring speakers to seasoned professionals and the event drew an international audience of attendees to the London Docklands venue. 

This year’s Awards featured new categories - the Speakers Lifetime Achievement Award honouring the recipients’ contribution in shaping the landscape of speaking, the Speakers Hall of Fame, and the Bookers Choice Award, which was judged by speaker agents and bureaus.

The winners collectively expressed their recognition of the purpose and value of the Awards as a platform for promoting the mastery of professional speaking. 

Ben Hanlin, winner in the categories of Best Newcomer, Best TEDx Speaker and Speaker of the Year said, “Having nights like this, where we all get to remind ourselves there’s a community and for people who know what it’s like to be a speaker to give us an award like this, it honestly means a lot”.

Bonita Norris, Winner of Best Storyteller, 2024 also said, “I’m already planning my submission for next year, I want to be bigger and better, so it’s raising standards and it’s great to be part of the community as well”.

The Speakers Lifetime Achievement Award honouring the recipients’ contribution in shaping the landscape of speaking was awarded to Rikki Arundel, Co-Founder of The Professional Speakers Association.

The panel of Award judges featured leading figures across the speaking industry, including Maria Franzoni, Former International Speaker Bureau Owner and Agent; Bob Strange, Founder and Director of The Closer Speakers' Consultancy Ltd; Kaye Freeman, Founder of Andromeda Talent and Helen Chorley, Speaker and Entrepreneur, with a track record in both property and television.

The inspiration behind the Speakers Summit and Awards emerged during the Pandemic period to engage and support the speaker community at a time of social isolation, with the inaugural Awards taking place in 2022.

The Event Director, Elliot Kay states his ultimate vision for the Awards to be viewed the “Oscars of the Speaking World, elevating speakers as a professional group”. 

Subsequent Award events have demonstrated increased visibility and reputation, with a growth of 30% of attendees at the event between 2023 and 2024.

In terms of nominations, the 2024 Summit and Awards saw over 1,000 registrations, resulting in 139 submitted applications.
The 2024 Summit and Awards also showed an international interest, with event attendees travelling from various countries including Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Singapore.

The Speakers Summit and Awards promises to build on the momentum of its success, with the 2025 event scheduled for July 11th.

The event organisers are also on the lookout for fresh partnerships and event sponsors, to reflect the increasing prominence of the Speakers Summit and Awards as a vital fixture on the speaking events calendar.
